A Bangladesh Cricket Board official said on Friday that they will give NOC to pacer Mustafizur Rahman if he applies for it to take part in the Indian Premier League at the expense of national duty.

“We will surely give NOC to Mustafizur if he applies for it because as we have given NOC to Shakib it will be the same for Mustafizur,” Akram told reporters.

“The board decided that whoever will ask NOC will have it because it is useless to insist someone who is not willing to play,” he added.

BCB has in the past said that Bangladesh players would be allowed to be part of two franchise-based T20 tournaments per year while BCB also rejected Mustafizur’s plea to take part in the IPL last year.

There have been a few instances in the last seven years when Shakib al Hasan had to skip the IPL due to national commitments but the board decided to grant him leave this time around as he decided to skip the Test series against Sri Lanka to make him available for the IPL.

Mustafizur was picked by Rajasthan Royals at his base price of Rs 1 crore during the IPL player auction held on Thursday. Shakib returned to Kolkata Knight Riders den as the franchise brought him in for Rs 3.2 crore.
