Indian rupee settles at 72.65 against dollar

NEW DELHI: Indian rupee gained 10 paise and ended at day’s high at 72.65 per dollar, amid selling saw in the domestic equity market.

It opened flat at 72.76 per dollar against Wednesday’s close of 72.75 and traded in the range of 72.65-72.78, report agencies.

At close, the Sensex was down 379.14 points or 0.73% at 51,324.69, and the Nifty was down 89.90 points or 0.59% at 15,119.

“Currently, the spot is trading in between 72.50-73 and we expect the range to stay intact in near-term. Only a consistent trading above 73 will push the spot towards 73.25-73.30,” he added.
