The monitoring system for ensuring safe food has been strengthened at root-level by setting up offices of Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) in all districts of the country, said Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder.
“The present government is working to ensure safe food for the people of the country. Currently this range has been expanded,” he said while addressing a press conference at Bijoy 71 Hall of Probashi Kallyan Bhaban in the capital’s Eskaton on Wednesday.The BFSA arranged the press conference.
Highlighting the different initiatives taken by the BFSA, Sadhan Chandra Majumder further said, “Construction work of six laboratories to ensure safe food and quality testing is underway in six divisions of the country. A mobile laboratory van has also been launched in collaboration with FAO.”
He said food security will be ensured at every level as the government want to ensure food security for the people of the country.
Food secretary Dr Mosammat Nazmanara Khanum, BFSA Chairman Md Abdul Kayowm Sarker and other officials of the ministry were present in the programme.
