BRAHMANBARIA: An octogenarian man was killed over previous enmity at Kandapara in Gouragram of Nabinagar upazila in the district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Milon Sardar of Kandapara area.

Ruhul Amin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Nabinagar Police Station, said there was an enmity between two groups — one led by Sarkar Goshthi and another led by Ajaira Goshthi for long.

As a sequel to the enmity, the supporters of Ajaira Goshthi swooped on the supporters of Sarkar Goshthi while they were going home after attending a mahfil at night.

The attackers gouged out the eyes and slit the tongue of Milon, leaving him dead on the spot.

Ten more people were also injured during the attack.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to local hospital morgue.

Additional police were deployed in the area to avert further trouble.
