Mujibnagar to get public university, says Farhad

MEHERPUR: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has offered the people of the district to establish a public university in Mujibnagar, said State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain on Monday.

Farhad Hossain revealed this in a function on the occasion of inaugurating construction works of a bridge over the river Bhairab in Mujibnagar upazila.

“We demanded for an agriculture university but PM Sheikh Hasina offered us with a public university in Mujibnagar” the state minister said.

Mentioning that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is sincere and cordial for development of the historic Meherpur, he also said that the PM allocated TK 1000 crore more for development of historic Mujibnagar.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Monsur Alam Khan chaired the function which was addressed among others by Mujibnagar Upazila AL President Ziauddin Biswas, AL leader Ibrahim Shahin, Union parishad Chairmen Amam Hossain Milu, Ayub Hossain, Anowarul Islam and Additional Superintendent of Police Jamirul Islam.
