Clash with Cops

29 BNP men put on 2-day remand

A Dhaka Court on Sunday placed 29 leaders and activists of BNP on a two-day remand each in two separate cases filed over the clash between BNP activists and police in front of Jatiya Press Club in the capital.

Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury passed the order after police produced them before the court seeking remand for interrogation in the cases.

Sub-inspector (SI) Golam Hossain Khan, also investigation officer of a case filed with Shahbagh police station, produced 16 accused before the court seeking on 10-day remand each while SI Shahidul Usman Masum produced 13 accused before the court seeking on a seven-day remand in the case filed with Ramna police station.

Among the accused, Jakir Hossain, Parvej Reza, Khandaker Mujahidul Islam, Sawgatul Islam, Minhajul Haque, Shawkat-ul Islam, Sajib, Shamim Reza, Shawon Jamaddar, Imon Sheikh, Nazrul Islam, Sajjad, Rahaman Rana, Mostafa, Mahmudul Hasan and Palash Miah were placed on remand in a case filed with Shahbagh police station.
