21 illegal structures demolished

A mobile court of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Sunday demolished over 21 illegal structures on the bank of the Shyampur canal in the capital.

Executive Magistrates Tanjila Kabir Tropha and AHM Erfanuddin Ahmed led the drive at Bowbazar area under Shyampur. During the drive, the mobile court demolished a portion of a five-storey building, 20 one-storey buildings and shops on the banks of the canal.

Besides, some goods of grabbers were also sold in spot auction with Tk 42,000 and a person was fined Tk 5,000 for making obstacle to the drive.

DSCC Chief Estate Officer Rasel Sabrin said they conducted a survey for demarcation of the canal boundary with Dhaka WASA, Dhaka Development Board and Dhaka district administration before starting the drive.
