Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday alleged that BNP is making evil attempts to get involved in politics of conflict deliberately.

“Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) makes people and police as their opponents but countrymen have completely realized their (BNP) ill intention.

The party (BNP) is now making their evil efforts to get involved in conflicts deliberately,” he said.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, came up with the remark while addressing the council session of AL’s Tarash Upazila of Sirajganj unit virtually from his official residence on parliament premises in the capital.

The AL spokesperson urged BNP for refraining from making people’s comfort unnecessarily in the name of waging a movement.

“There is no scope of government changeover without polls in democratic system. National election will be held in time as per the constitution. Sheikh Hasina has the courage to accept people’s mandate,” he said.

Alleging that a vested quarter has been hatching conspiracies when the country is advancing towards development, Quader said there is no issue for waging movement as Sheikh Hasina’s pro-people politics has put BNP in crisis over the issue of movement.

“AL never hatches conspiracy rather it becomes victim of conspiracies again and again,” he said.

About BNP’s allegations that the government has found BNP’s involvement in Al Jazeera report,

Quader said such allegation is not correct and actually the AL has already said that scrutiny is underway to find out who are behind the Al Jazeera’s propaganda.

Turning to own party politics, he said new committees should be formed through holding councils at the district, upazila, thana, union and ward units whose tenures have already expired.

He urged the party men to evaluate dedicated workers in the committees.

AL organizing secretary SM Kamal Hossain, health secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana, Sirajganj district AL acting president Hossain Ali Hasan, acting general secretary Abdus Samad, lawmakers Tanvir Shakil Joy and Abdul Aziz, among others, addressed the council.

Tarash Upazila AL president Abdul Haque chaired the council session while its general secretary Sanjit Karmaker moderated the session.
