Technician crushed under train wheels

A rail technician was crushed under the wheels of a locomotive at Kamalapur in the capital on Saturday.

The technician identified as Sharif Uddin Harun was killed while he was repairing another locomotive there.

Babul Hossain, coworker of the victim, said that they were repairing a locomotive at a loco shed.

At that time, another engine, which was being brought to the loco shed for repair, hit Sharif, around 10:30am.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries around 11:45am, he said.

The body was kept at DMCH’s morgue for autopsy, confirmed In-charge of DMCH Police Outpost Inspector Bacchu Mia.

Sharif, son of late Tofail Ahmed of Begumganj in Noakhali, was living with his family at Panir Tanki area of Shahjahanpur.

Such kind of incident is not new in the country.  About 12 days ago, a sub-assistant engineer of Bangladesh Railway was crushed under the wheels of a train while he was repairing rail line in Kawla area.

An employee of Signal Department of the Railway was crushed under the wheels of a locomotive at Kamalapur Railway Station about one year ago.
