Lowest corona cases in 10 months

13 more die, 291 cases detected

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday recorded the lowest number of corona cases in the last 10 months in the country.

A total of 291 new cases were detected in the 24 hours, raising the total number of cases to 5,40,266, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The death rate, however, increased comparing to the previous day as 13 more people died in the last 24 hours.               

The total number of deaths from Covid-19 disease has reached 8,266 and the death rate stands at 1.53 percent in the country.              

The current positivity rate is 2.26 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.09 percent. A total of 12,871 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am on Saturday).

At least 374 Covid-19 patients have recovered from the fatal disease during the period, raising the total number of recoveries to 4,86,767 and the recovery rate at 90.10 percent.

Among the 13 deceased, seven were men and six women while one was between 21-30 years old, one within 31-40, one between 41-50, four within 51-60 and six were above 60 years old, said the health directorate.

The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8, last year while the first death was recorded on March 18 in the country.
