Lowest corona deaths in nine months

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) recorded the lowest figure of death as only five coronavirus patients died in the last 24 hours across the country.

Earlier, three Covid-19 patients died on May 6 last year and seven deaths were reported on January 29, the health directorate sources said.

The rate of daily coronavirus infection has also declined while the recovery rate has been increasing day by day across the country including in Dhaka.

Five more coronavirus infected patients died and 404 new cases were detected in the last 24 hours till Friday morning. The death toll rose to 8,253. 

According to DGHS, 404 new cases were detected in the country in the last 24 hours till 8:00am Friday, raising the total number to 5,39,975.     

Some 422 more patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, raising the total number to 4,86,393.

The DGHS data said the coronavirus death rate has stood at 1.53 percent. On the other hand, the recovery rate also has reached 90.08 percent, it added.

The health directorate said 14.13 percent of the samples have been diagnosed with coronavirus till the date while 2.82 percent samples have been diagnosed with the fatal disease in a day.

A total of 14,114 samples, out of 14,328 collected, were tested at 210 labs in the country during the period, the report added.

A total of 38,22,345 samples have been tested so far to detect coronavirus infection across the country.

The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 while the first death was recorded on March 18 in the country.
