A Bangladesh Cricket Board official said on Thursday that they have granted Shakib Al Hasan leave during their upcoming tour of New Zealand, consisting of three ODIs and as many T20Is.

“We have granted him leave during the New Zealand tour,” said BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan.

Shakib earlier requested BCB not to consider him for the New Zealand series and he had recently sent a letter requesting the board to grant him paternity leave for the birth of his third child.

The 33-year old is currently recovering from a thigh injury which he sustained during the opening Test against West Indies, which will keep him out of action for the second game in Dhaka.

The three-match ODI series will take place on March 20, 23 and 26 in Dunedin, Christchurch and Wellington respectively.

The three T20Is will be played on March 28, 30 and April 1 in Hamilton, Napier and Auckland respectively. Bangladesh are expected to depart for New Zealand on February 24.
