10 injured in factional clash of Bogura motor owners

BOGURA: At least 10 people, including police, have been injured in a factional clash between two groups of Bogura District Motor Owners Association over establishing supremacy.

The clash took place at Charmatha bus stand in Bogura around 12:00 noon on Tuesday.

During the clash, at least 10 motorcycles were set on fire. Two of the 10 injured were sustained bullet-wounds. The office of the District Motor Owner Association was also burnt down alongside the office of Shah Fahet Ali Bus service.

Later police charged batons and brought the situation under control around 1pm. One of the groups is led by Manjurul Alam Mohan, joint secretary of the district Awami League and former convener of the Bogura District Motor Owners Association. Another group is active under former Bogura Municipality Panel Mayor and Awami League leader Aminul Islam.
