Nigerian midfielder Ugochukwu Obi Moneke scored a hat-trick as Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra crushed Arambagh Krira Sangha 4-0 in a Bangladesh Premier League match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.
High-flying Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club lost points for the first time after they played a thrilling 2-2 draw against Dhaka Abahani Limited in their sixth BPL match at the same venue.Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited beat Police Football Club by 1-0 goal at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla to claim their only second win in the ongoing league. Russel’s Obi scored in the 36th, 39th and 46th minutes respectively to complete his hat-trick while midfielder Mohammad Abdullah contributed one in the 73rd minute to help their team earn their fifth win from seven games.
Earlier, in the day’s high-voltage match, Gambian forward Sulayman Sillah and defender Pa Omar Jobe scored one each for Sheikh Jamal while Haitian forward Kervens Fils Belfort and Brazilian forward Francisco Wagsley Rodrigues de Sousa Filho Torres netted one each for Dhaka Abahani as both the side played a draw.
Abahani took a 1-0 lead while Haitian forward Belfort sent the ball home in the 13th minute. Gambian forward Sillah levelled the margin 1-1 with a right-footer in the 19th minute. The match was paused for a while in the 37th minute as both the teams got involved in a dispute.
Referee GMC Nayan showed two red cards to Abahani’s midfielder Jewel Rana and Gambian captain Solomon King Kanform.
Brazilian forward Francisco Torres made 2-1 for Abahani with a header from inside the box in the 46th minute. Sheikh Jamal’s Gambian defender Jobe equalized the margin 2-2 from a counter-attack in the 72nd minute.
In Cumilla, Japanese midfielder Uryu Nagata scored the match-winner in the 47th minute as Mohammaden got full three points after five matches.
