Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police arrested a woman from Gulshan in the capital on Tuesday for embezzling Tk 14 million from her husband’s bank account.

The arrestee is identified as Anju Kapur, 54, an Indian national and wife of former captain of Biman Bangladesh Airlines late Mostofa Jaglul Wahid.

A team of Dhaka Metro North Unit of the CID arrested Anju, who was first a house help of Jaglul.

On October 8 last year, Jaglul Wahid died. At that time, Anju Kapur was alone at their residence in Gulshan. She did not disclose the death news to anybody and withdrew Tk 14 million from the bank account of her husband by forgery.

Even she did not allow Jaglul Wahid’s two daughters -- Musfika Mostafa and Mubashara Mostafa -- in their residence.

Later, two sisters began staging sit-in in front of the house in Gulshan-2. They staged the sit-in for 21 days.

Ferdous Wahid, brother of Jaglul Wahid, went to the High Court for establishing the rights of his nieces.

On October 27 night last year, a High Court bench asked the officer-in-charge of the Gulshan police station to allow two daughters of Jaglul in their residence.
