Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force officially started Covid-19 vaccination for its respective members on Sunday.
The Bangladesh Army started the programme at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Dhaka. Acting Chief of Army Staff Quartermaster-General (QMG) Lieutenant General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed inaugurated the event.After the inauguration, Army Chief of General Staff (CGS) Lieutenant General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan was the first to receive the vaccine. Later, senior army officers received the vaccine.
About 200 army personnel were vaccinated on the opening day. In addition, all other
combined military hospitals around the country started vaccination simultaneously.
The Bangladesh Navy started vaccination campaign in all the naval hospitals in Dhaka, Chittagong and Khulna naval areas.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal inaugurated the program as the chief guest at BNS Haji Mohsin in Dhaka.
On the other hand, vaccination among the members of the Air Force began at the Medical Squadron of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar, Dhaka.Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat inaugurated the vaccination programme. The Chief of Air Staff was the first to receive the vaccine.
Later, senior officers and other members of the Bangladesh Air Force were vaccinated against coronavirus.
Besides, Dr Md Abu Hena Mostofa Kamal, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, was inoculated at CMH. Later, about 50 senior officials of the Ministry of Defence received the vaccine.
