Dr Fauzia Moslem has been made president of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad.

Members of the central committee of the organisation took the decision unanimously in its virtual meeting held on Saturday night, said Maleka Begum, the parishad’s general secretary.

The post fell vacant after the death of its past president Ayesha Khanom on January 2. Since then Fauzia Moslem, vice-president of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, was serving as the acting president of the organisation.

One of the founder members of the women’s human rights organisation, Fauzia Moslem was involved with the progressive student movements in 60’s of the last century.
