Gano Forum General Secretary Dr Reza Kibria has resigned from the party as the internal feud of the party has been intensified recently.

“I have resigned from the post of general secretary of Gano Forum and its membership. I have already submitted my resignation letter to the party president Dr Kamal Hossain,” Reza Kibria said in a press release on Sunday.

Amid the growing internal conflict of the Gano Forum, Reza Kibria has been refraining from participating in party activities since a few months ago.

In May 2019, at a press conference at the National Press Club,

Gano Forum executive president Subrata Chowdhury announced the new committee of the party.

He announced the Gano Forum’s 111-member central committee with Dr Kamal Hossain as president again and Reza Kibria, new general secretary (GS). Former general secretary of the party Mostafa Mohsin Montu was made number one executive member of the committee.

Reza Kibria, son of slain former Awami League finance minister Shah AMS Kibria, joined Dr Kamal Hossain-led Gano Forum and contested the December 30, 2018 parliamentary polls under Jatiya Oikya Front from Habiganj-1 constituency.

Party leaders said the internal conflict between Gano Forum General Secretary Reza Kibria, former executive president Subrata Chowdhury and former general secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu divided the party into two factions.

Reza Kibria, an economist by profession, had joined Gano Forum, a party led by Dr Kamal Hossain, in November, 2018. The party is a component of Jatiya Oikyafront.
