11th ‘Chobi Mela’ begins on Feb 12

The 11th edition of Chobi Mela, an international photography festival, will be held between 12 and 21 February at Drikpath Bhaban in the capital’s Panthapath area.

The title of this year festival is ‘Chobi Mela 0’. 

A total of 75 artists from home and abroad including, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will participate in the event.

The event will be held in eight segments, namely Off-Limits, The Rebel with A Smile, Wishing Tree, Frozen Song,  Crossroads Collectives’ Intervention, Baba Betar,  Chapakhana Archive and Chobi Mela Fellowship 2021.

The curators of the event are ASM Rezaur Rahman, Sarker Protick and Tanzim Wahab along with guest curators including Anushka Rajendran, Nazmun Nahar Keya and Zihan Karim.

This edition will focus on the achievements of noted photographers Sayeeda Khanam and architect Bashirul Huq.

Chobi Mela, the international festival of photography since its inception in 2000 has been the most significant photographic event in Asia, and the first of a regular biennale, that has become one of the highlights of the Asian calendar. It is organised by Drik Picture Library and Pathshala South Asian Media Institute.
