Improving EoDB stressed for building a developed Bangladesh

Executive chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Board (BIDA) Md Sirajul Islam said there is no alternative to developing the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) to build a developed Bangladesh.

He said this while speaking as chief guest at a workshop titled-‘Ease of Doing Business (EoDB)’ organised by Bangladesh Investment Development Board (BIDA) Authority at BIAM Foundation in the city, said a press release, reports BSS.

The executive chairman said every year, the World Bank publishes a report on the position of each country in the Ease of Doing Business Index. According to the report published in 2019, Bangladesh is ranked 168th out of 190 countries, which is still not up to the mark, he added.

Sirajul said that BIDA is working on the 10 indicators of business facilitation, for which various recommendations including law reforms have been made and these have been implemented. Executive member of BIDA Md. Billal Hossain presided over the meeting, while director general of BIDA Wahidul Islam gave the welcome speech. Executive Member of Bida Saifullah Maqbool Morshed, Additional Secretary Muhammad Salehuddin (Ministry of Land), Additional Secretary of Power Division Abul Khair Md. Aminur Rahman also spoke, among others, at the workshop.
