The online registration for Covid-19 vaccination will open in the country after the inauguration of the nationwide inoculation programme tomorrow.
“The online registration will open after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurates the vaccination programme on January 27,” Prof Dr ABM Khurshid Alam, director general of the Directorate General of Health Services, told the Daily Sun on Monday.The ICT Division handed over online platform www.surokkha.com to the Health Ministry on Monday, sources said. People can register using this website or downloading ‘Surokkha’ mobile app from the Android Play Store or Apple App Store.
A demonstration of the website and the app was held at the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday.
In the user manual of its web portal, the technical support department of the ICT Division has elaborately described how people can enroll for the vaccination online.
As per the description, after entering the web portal, a person will see the home screen of the website first with some options like vaccine registration, status check, vaccine card, certificate and FAQ (frequently asked questions).
There are also important hotline numbers related to health services at the website.
All the activities of this portal can be performed with the use of mobile app ‘Surokkha’.For the registration, one will have to fill up the vaccine registration section with certain information, including name, profession, present address, national identity card number, phone number and date of birth, after selecting a type from a list of 18.
On completion of the registration, the vaccine seekers can download the Vaccine Card from web portal www.surokkha.gov.bd anytime. Registered people will receive a message informing them of the dates of their vaccination and they will have to go to the vaccination centres concerned with the Vaccine Card and national ID cards for getting inoculated.
Finally, Vaccine Certificate can be received from www.surokkha.gov.bd web portal after being administered two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
According to the DGHS, the government seeks to ensure vaccine for all based on the priority and availability of the jab. The healthcare providers will get priority in receiving the vaccine.
Front liners, including emergency service providers, freedom fighters, senior citizens, members of law enforcement agencies, journalists and teachers, will be on the list of priority groups for vaccine, it said.
Mentioning that notice will be published about registration for the vaccination, the DGHS said the registered people will receive the vaccine from the designated vaccination centres on the specific dates.
After taking the vaccine, the recipients will have to wait for at least 30 minutes at the centres to see whether any side effects occur, it said.
The Health Ministry said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the vaccination programme on Wednesday and the government will run the vaccination at government hospitals at district and upazila levels across the country from February 8.
