The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Thursday sent a letter to Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) seeking extension of application deadline of 43rd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination till March 31.
The UGC sent a letter signed by its secretary to PSC Chairman Md Sohorab Hossain in this regard, said UGC director (public relations and right to information division) Dr Shamsul Arefin.In the letter, the UGC said that academic activities of all education institutions of the country remained suspended since March 18, 2020 following the government instruction due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The universities could not arrange finial year or semester examinations of graduate and post graduate level in due time, the letter said.
On December 13 last year, the vice-chancellors of public universities held a meeting with UGC Chairman Prof Kazi Shahidullah where they requested the UGC to take initiatives for extending the application submission date of BCS examination considering the current pandemic situation.
The meeting also decided to hold the semester final examinations of graduate and post graduate level, maintaining the health guidelines.
On November 30, last year, BPSC issued a circular seeking application for the 43rd BCS exam which had started on December 30 and will be ended on January 31.
