The government will collect 30 million syringes for its countrywide coronavirus vaccination programme.

The syringes will be procured from local company JMI Syringes & Medical Devices Ltd, said an order issued by the DGHS.

According to the order, JMI will provide the syringes in five installments as it has been asked to provide 66 lakh syringes in the first phase by January 31.

However, the remaining amount of syringes will be procured in four phases by June 20, it added.

A total of 3.2 crore people will be given vaccination against coronavirus in the first phase, the DGHS sources said.
