Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) alleged that vote rigging and irregularities, including capture of polling stations by ruling Awami League men, took place in the municipal polls held on Saturday.

"We received information that the ruling party men didn’t allow our polling agents to go to polling centres. Our polling agents were also driven away from polling centres in many places,” BNP senior leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said.

The BNP standing committee member made the statement while addressing a press conference at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office in the capital.

Khandaker Mosharraf also alleged that the party supporters were also not allowed to go to polling centers to cast their votes.
