Within a week of the price hike, the price of gold has been plunged by around Tk 1,983 per bhori.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BJS) has said that the price reduction has been implemented from Wednesday.According to BJS, the price of gold in the international market has fallen a bit which resulted in the reduction of gold price in local market.
A press release issued by BJS on Tuesday said that per bhori (one bhori is equivalent to 11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold will cost Tk 72,666 now, previously it was Tk 74,649.
According to the new price, per bhori of 21-carat gold will cost Tk 69,517, per bhori of 18-carat gold will cost Tk 60,769, and traditional gold will cost Tk 50,446 per bhori.
However, the price of silver will remain unchanged.
BJS has also fixed the minimum wage for making jewellery items. The charge for gold ornaments has been fixed at Tk 250 per gram and Tk 26 per gram for silver ornaments.
