Seven killed in Jhenaidah road crash

At least seven people were killed and several others injured in a road accident in Jhenaidah on Wednesday.

Locals said a truck collided head-on with a Nosimon in Shailakopa upazila around 6:30pm, leaving its seven passengers dead and several others injured.

The identities of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.

All the deceased are the passengers of the Nosimon, Deputy Assistant Director of Jhenaidah fire station Shamimul Islam said.

The death toll from the fatal collision may rise further as the condition of several victims stated to be critical, he added.

On information, high police officers and firefighters reached the spot.

In another accident, two motorcyclists were killed as a truck hit the two-wheeler in Sarishabari upazila of Jamalpur in the morning. The accident occurred near Papular Bridge in Sarishabari municipal area around 7:45am.            

The deceased are Saidur Rahman, 22, son of Mozammel Huq from Barabaria village of the upazila, and Akash, 17, son of Khokon Mia. Officer-in-Charge of Sarishabari police station Abu Muhammad Fazlul Karim said quoting locals that the truck rammed the motorbike from opposite direction when the duo was travelling amid dense fog.
