Nine general managers (GMs) of four state-owned banks did not join their new workplaces even after 13 months of transfer order.

The Ministry of Finance has written to the managing directors (MDs) of the banks, asking them to send the GMs to their new workplaces within a short time. But the order has been disobeyed.

ABM Ruhul Azad, additional secretary of Bank and Financial Institutions Division, said, “They are making different excuses, including the coronavirus pandemic.”

“For the last time, we instructed them to join the new workplaces by the first week of this month. Even then, they didn’t comply with the order of the division,” he said.

Ruhul Azad said, “Any order of the ministry means that it is the order of the government. So there is no chance to avoid this order.”

The appointment and transfer order of GMs are issued by the Bank and Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance.
