Jubo League, a youth organisation of the ruling Awami League, has warned that they will take stern action if any party leaders participate in the ongoing municipal polls as a rebel or joins campaign in favour of rebel candidates.

They came up with the warning in line with the Awami League’s strategy to contain rebels in the local body polls to restore party discipline, a press release said on Tuesday.

Jubo League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash and General Secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil urged party leaders to work for the Awami League-nominated candidates in the municipal polls, the release added.

In the ongoing municipal polls, the ruling Awami League did not nominate those who took part in the previous polls as rebels.
