Veteran Awami League leader and former Moulvibazar MP Toabur Rahim died of coronavirus infection at a hospital in London on early Friday. He was 93.
He breathed his last at around 8:00pm at London’s Charing Cross Hospital, said Moulvibazar’s Rajnagar Upazilla Vice-chairman Md Alal Mia.
He left his wife, a son, grand children, a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death. Toabur was hospitalised after being tested positive for the coronavirus few days ago.This organiser of the Liberation War was elected a member of Gana Parishad from Moulvibazar. He was also a former member of the East Pakistan Provincial Council.
Following the independence, Toabur became the member of Bangladesh’s first parliament from Sylhet-14 (Moulvibazar- Rajnagar- Kamalganj) constituency.
