Corona deaths, infections decline

17 more die, 990 cases detected

The numbers of daily coronavirus infection cases and deaths declined across the country, including in Dhaka, in the last 24 hours till Friday morning.

According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 990 new cases were detected in the country in the last 24 hours till 8:00am on Friday, raising the total number to 5,14,500.

Seventeen more corona patients died during the 24-hour period while the total number of deaths from Covid-19 disease has reached 7,576 in the country.

Some 1,197 more patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, raising the total number to 4,58,656.

The DGHS data said the coronavirus death rate has stood at 1.47 percent. On the other hand, the recovery rate has reached 89.15 percent, it added.

The health directorate said 15.88 percent of the samples have been diagnosed with coronavirus till the date while 8.18 percent samples have been diagnosed with the fatal disease in a day.

A total of 12,074 samples, out of 12,103 collected, were tested at 180 labs in the country during the period, the report added.

A total of 32,39,701 samples have been tested so far to detect coronavirus infection across the country.

The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 while the first death was recorded on March 18 in the country.
