Saif Sporting Club and Bangladesh Championship League (BCL) runners-up Uttar Baridhara Club reached the quarter-finals from the four-team Group B of the ongoing Walton Federation Cup 2020.
Saif SC emerged as the unbeaten group champions as they beat Arambagh Krira Sangha by 1-0 goal in their last group match at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) on Tuesday. Forward Arifur Rahman scored the match-winner in the 57th minute.On the other hand, Uttar Baridhara registered their second win beating Brothers Union Limited by 3-0 goals at the same venue in the day’s other match. Uzbek midfielder Evgeniy Kochnev, national coloured forward Sumon Reza and Egyptian defender Mahmoud Sayed Mohamed Abdelrahim scored one goal each in the 13th, 26th and 60th minutes.
In the quarters, Saif will take on Group D runners-up on January 2 while Uttar Baridhara will face Group D champions on January 4, both at BNS as 04:00pm. The Group D quarter-finalists are yet to be confirmed.
Earlier, Saif beat Uttar Baridhara Sporting Club by 3-0 goals on December 23 and Brothers Union by 6-1 goals on December 23 in their other two group matches while Uttar Baridhara secured their chances for quarters beating Armabagh KS by 3-2 goals in their second group match on December 26.
