Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) informed in a press release on Sunday that the national team captain Jamal Bhuiyan reported negative for COVID-19 in his last coronavirus test. BFF also informed that Jamal would arrive in Dhaka soon.
Bangladesh, which went to Qatar to play their lone away match of joint qualifiers round two for FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023, returned to the capital on December 5. But the 30-year-old Danish-born Bangladeshi midfielder had to stay there due to a slight fever. Later, he was tested positive for COVID-19 on December 12 and was quarantined at a hotel in Doha under the supervision of Qatar Football Association.The Bangladeshi captain was supposed to fly to India on December 10 to join I-league Club Kolkata Mohammedan SC. The competition is scheduled to begin on January 9.
