A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed among Finance Division of Ministry of Finance, University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh and Janata Bank Limited at the auditorium of Finance Division in the capital on Tuesday under the government’s house building loan policy for starting the loan activities.
Dr. Ferdous Zaman, Secretary (Additional Charge), UGC, Md. Ekhlasur Rahman, Additional Secretary, Finance Division, Finance Ministry and Md. Abdus Salam Azad, Managing Director, Janata Bank signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.
Dr. Ferdous Zaman and Md. Ekhlasur Rahman spoke on the occasion.UGC Secretary, in his speech, said that this agreement with the government stands for implementation of Vision- 2021 declared by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He extended thanks to the Finance Ministry and Janata Bank for signing the agreement.
Officers and employees of UGC will get the house building loan under this agreement. They will get the house building loan from Tk 20 lakh upto Tk. 75 lakh at a four percent simple interest. The government will pay remaining five percent interest for a period of twenty years.
Zafor Ahommad Jahanger, Joint Secretary, Mohammad Maksudur Rahman Bhuiyan, Additional Director, UGC, Md. Ismail Hossain, Deputy Managing Director, Janata Bank Ltd., and high officials from Finance Division of Finance Ministry, Janata Bank Ltd, Sonali Bank Ltd. and Agrani Bank Ltd. were present in the agreement signing ceremony.
