14 more dengue cases reported

The number of dengue patients has reached 1,322 across the country in the current year until Thursday after 14 new dengue patients were hospitalised in the last 24 hours.

According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a total of 148 people have been diagnosed with the mosquito-borne disease this month.

The DGHS said seven patients were admitted to different hospitals in in the capital while seven others were hospitalised outside the capital on the same day. Currently, 61 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals across the country. Of them, 47 patients are being treated in 41 government and private hospitals in the capital while 14 are receiving treatment in hospitals outside the capital.

However, no new death from the disease was reported in the last 24 hours, the health directorate said.

Among 1,322 infected people since the beginning of this year, 1,253 were released from hospitals after recovery.

The Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) has received reports of eight deaths from dengue this year. It has finalised reviewing four cases and confirmed three deaths from the dengue.
