Khulna journos seek PM’s intervention in implementing 9th wage board

KHULNA: Khulna Union of Journalists (KUJ) on Sunday demanded of the government as well as owners of both print and electronic media to immediately implement the ninth wage board award for journalists, reports BSS.

The journalists’ leaders also demanded immediate stopping harassment and mass termination of journalists in the coronavirus pandemic.

In the present situation, the journalist leaders sought Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s intervention to help journalists for implementation of the ninth wage board award at the quickest possible time.

Journalists after gazette notification of the wage board award are supposed get their salaries and other fringe benefits but Newspaper Owners Association of Bangladesh (NOAB) is now plotting to deprive journalists of getting their dues as per the award.

Chaired by KUJ president Munshi Md Mahbub Alam Sohag, the pragramme was addressed, among others, by Mokbul Hossain Mintu, S M Zahid Hossain, Humayun Kabir, Farid Rana, Mallick Sudhangsu, Mozammel Haque Howleder, Shah Alam, Asaduzzaman Reaz, Mostofa Zaman Poplu. KUJ secretary Sayeduzzaman Samrat conducted the programme.
