Organic farming changes lot of women in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI: In the quest for safer food, the demand for organically grown foods has increased due to their probable health benefits and food safety concerns.

To meet increasing demand for organically grown foods, organic farming is also becoming popular in different part of the country.

In Narsingdi, presently many women are involved in these activities which also brought positive changes in their lives, but, here, one Salina Jahan is the pioneer in this field.

Salina Jahan, a Narsingdi woman, is a glaring example of how one can lift him or her family out of vicious poverty cycle by adopting organic agriculture farming.

Poverty used to afflict her and put barrier on her way to running the family, but could not deter this self-motivated woman from becoming self-reliant. She has set an instance of bringing happiness to many women’s life in Narsingdi by giving them opportunity to work in her organic agriculture farm and earn a handsome amount.

Salina Jahan is now a woman farmer-cum-entrepreneur of Narsingdi district.

Presently, many local women are working with Salina who has established a healthy and organic agriculture farm through using organic fertilizer in Shoikarchar village of Shibpur upazila in the district.
