CHT Peace Accord’s 23rd anniv observed

The 23rd anniversary of Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Peace Accord was observed Wednesday.

Different organisations in the three hill districts -- Khagrachari, Bandarban and Rangamati -- marked the day with various programmes in compliance with health guidelines set by the government.

Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing has called for resolving issues through talks if there is any problem in implementation of the Peace Accord.

He made the remarks at a discussion meeting at the ministry's conference room on the 23rd anniversary of the CHT Peace Accord.

Meanwhile, the Khagrachari Hill District Council placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the Cultural Institute premises, arranged a discussion and cut a cake to mark the 23rd anniversary of the CHT Peace Accord.

Local MP and Chairman of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Refugee Task Force Kujendra Lal Tripura was the chief guest at the discussion meeting chaired by Khagrachari Hill District Council Chairman Kongjari Chowdhury.

Former MP Jatindra Lal Tripura, Major Salah Uddin, staff officer of the region and public representatives, among others, attended the discussion.
