Ansar to take on Naogaon DSA in first semi today

Group A champions Bangladesh Ansar and VDP will take on Group B runners-up Naogaon District Sports Association (DSA) in the first semifinal of the ongoing Walton First Women’s Federation Cup Handball Competition 2020 at Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium at 11:00am today in the capital.

In the second semifinal, Group B champions Jamalpur Sports Academy will take on Group A runners-up Bangladesh Police Handball club at the same venue on Wednesday.

The final will be held on December 5 after the third-place decider is held on December 3, both at the same venue. The champions will be awarded Tk 15,000, the runners-up team Tk 10,000 and the third-placed team Tk 5,000. Sponsors Walton Group provided jerseys for the participating teams.

Earlier, Ansar and VDP maintained an all-win run beating Faridpur DSA by 37-6 goals, Handball Training Center Dhaka by 46-11 goals and Police Handball club by 28-17 in their group matches.

Naogaon DSA conceded 15-22 goals defeat against Jamalpur SA but beat Jessore DSA by 28-7 goals and Tetulia Upazila Sports Association by 17-14 goals.

A total of eight teams, split into two groups, are taking part in the 8-day meet. Group A comprised of Police, Ansar and VDP, Faridpur DSA and Handball Training Center Dhaka while Group B comprised of Jamalpur Sports Academy, Naogaon DSA, Jessore DSA and Tetulia Upazila Sports Association.
