AL-backed panel sweeps Khulna Bar election

KHULNA: Awami League-backed Bangabandhu Ainjibi Parisad has swept the Khulna Bar Association election, bagging 12 posts out of 14, reports BSS.

Bangabandhu Ainjibi Parisad’s candidates Saiful Islam and K M Iqbal Hossain have been re-elected president and general secretary (GS) respectively in the polls held on Sunday at the district bar auditorium.

A total of 1,221 registered voters, among 1,354, cast their votes in the election.

Chairman of the three members’ election conducting committee Molla Liakat Ali announced the result last night after counting vote.

According to the results, Saiful won president post, bagging 882 votes and Iqbal won general secretary post, getting 714 votes.

In 2019 Khulna BAR election, Saiful won president post, bagging 685 votes and Iqbal won general secretary post, getting 627 votes, BAR source said.

BNP-Jamaat backed all party united council Sarbodoliya Ainjibi Oikkya Parishad president candidate Akter Zahan Ruku got 315 votes and GS candidate Molla Moshiur Rahman Nannu got 464 votes.
