Hazera sets new record in discus throw

Bibi Hazera of Noakhali District Sports Association (DSA) sets the lone new national record of 28.96m in the girls (U-19) discus throw on the second and final day of two- day Bangabandhu 36th National Junior Athletics Championship 2020 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.

Hazera broke the previous national record of 28.34m made by BKSP’s Ayesha Akhter in 2007.

After the final day, Jessore DSA emerged champions securing 7 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals while Narail DSA ended runners-up with 4 gold, 8 silver, 7 bronze medals and Manikganj DSA third with 4 golds.

Bangladesh Athletics Federation president ASM Ali Kabir declared the meet closed as the chief guest through an audio conference Saturday evening.

A total of 510 athletes from 49 DSAs took part in 41 events of four age groups including U-17 and U-19.
