BSCIC to create 1.5m jobs by 2025

Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) has formulated a master plan to set up 10 industrial parks on 3,000 acres of land to create about 1.5 million jobs by 2025. 

The master plan stretching up to 2041 covers short, medium and long term steps in line with the government's long-term development vision, said a press release.

In the medium term, the plan has set a target of creating about 10 million jobs by setting up 40 industrial parks on 20,000 acres of land by 2030.

Meanwhile, another target also has been set to create employment for about 20 million people by setting up 100 industrial parks on 40,000 acres of land.

The duration of the long-term plan is 2041, which is consistent with the government's target to build a developed Bangladesh.

Moreover, BSCIC also took a wide range of initiatives in response to the coronavirus pandemic. 

Their activities include postponement of the collection of all kinds of service charges and installment for 3 months in the beginning of coronavirus pandemic, produce and distribute safety equipment, comprehensive support for salt cultivation in salt fields and production, establish regular liaison with industry stakeholders, make recommendations on facilitation of obtaining loans under incentive packages and many more.
