Dengue surge rings alarm bells

The total number of dengue cases has already reached 1105 in the current year throughout the country until Friday as 18 new dengue patients were hospitalised in the last 24 hours.

According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the total number of dengue patients has reached 1,105 this year while 478 patients have been hospitalised this month.

The DGHS said 11 patients have been admitted to different hospitals in the capital while seven were hospitalised outside the capital on the same day.

Currently, 82 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals across the country.

Of them, 69 patients are being treated in 41 government and private hospitals in the capital while five are being treated in hospitals outside the capital.

However, no new death from the disease was reported in the last 24 hours, the health directorate said.
