JOYPURHAT: Health assistants of the district went on an indefinite work abstention on Thursday demanding a solution to salary discrimination.
Bangladesh Health Assistant Association (BHAA), Bangladesh Health Department Field Workers' Association and Bangladesh Health Department Inspectors Association are jointly holding the pre-scheduled programme.Women and children will face health risk due to the works abstention of the health assistants.
Distict Health Assistants Association president AL Mostahid Jewel and general secretary MK Rubel vowed that their movement will be continued until their demand is met.
They also called upon the govenment to fulfil their demand.
He said EPI programme is being hampered in the district due to the strike, he added.
On November 20, the BHAA announced its work abstention programme at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka demanding a solution to salary discrimination.
The demands include promotion of all health inspectors, assistant health inspectors and health assistants from grade 16 to grades 11, 12 and 13.
