Bangladesh, India can work together in power sector: Nasrul

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasurl Hamid has said that Bangladesh and India have many opportunities to work together for development of energy sector in the region.

He made this remark while paying a courtesy call on newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

Nasrul Hamid said that Bangladesh is giving emphasis on the expansion of clean and green energy, said the state minister.

Trilateral investment in hydropower projects in Nepal could be taken forward, he added. The High Commissioner said India sees the relationship with Bangladesh with respect and Bangladesh can act as an energy hub for the region.

The energy hub can be integrated by exchanging electricity, exchanging technology, saving electricity and fuel, and jointly producing machinery, the Indian envoy added.

India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline, Cross Border Pipeline by H-Energy, Cross Border Pipeline by IOCL, Construction of Power Transmission Line, ONGC (OVL) Activities, Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company, Hydropower Import from Nepal and Bhutan, and other aspects were also discussed during the courtesy call.
