Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen have tested positive for COVID-19 and are self-isolating at their respective residences.
Both of them who are in good health have been diagnosed with the global respiratory disease on Tuesday night, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press statement on Wednesday.They underwent COVID-19 test, as they were scheduled to travel Niger to attend the 47th Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). They, however, displayed no symptoms of the disease.
Momen was scheduled to lead the Bangladeshi delegation at the OIC meet.
In absence of the Foreign Minister and the Foreign Secretary, a delegation comprising senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as well as the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the OIC will represent Bangladesh at the CFM of OIC.
