Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested four people from Ashulia and Dhaka’s Paltan area along with ‘fake’ revenue stamps and postage stamps worth Tk 18 crore on Saturday.

The arrestees were identified as Ashrafuzzaman alias Akash, 45, Morsalin Sordar Sohel, 30, Roni Sheikh, 25, and Abdul Aziz, 23.

At a press briefing at DMP media centre, AKM Hafiz Akter, additional commissioner (Detectives) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told reporters that a team of detectives arrested them in separate drives from Ashulia and Paltan areas.

The gang had long been producing various types of counterfeit stamps and other official documents and circulating those in the local markets, depriving the government of revenue, he added.
