State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Monday said the government is working to develop 40 digital tools as people can use the technological platforms in mother tongue Bangla by 2021.
The activities of the public offices will be shifted from electronic filing to digital filing through integrating modern language tools, he said. Palak made the remarks while addressing a virtual meeting.
The state minister for ICT exchanged views with the officials of ‘Enhancement of Bangla Language in ICT through Research and Development’ on digital platform.
Bangladesh Computer Council Executive Director Parthapratim Deb was also connected to the meeting.
Palak informed that there will be developed ‘BanglaBoard’ following the GBoard of Google to increase use of technology in Bangla as users will get automatic next character and next word suggestion feature in the input system.
“The government will also focus on some features to ensure participation of people with special needs in technology. The screen reader, brail converter, signs to text recognition system will help differently abled persons to engage in digital platforms. Besides, the Universal Board will bring the alphabet of ethnic groups on keyboard. The minor languages will be saved in Digital Resource Archive,” he added.
The government is also working on machine translation of Bangla into 10 foreign languages to expand local content in global arena, said the state minister.
