Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials said on Thursday that they are hoping that pace bowler Shafiul Islam and Hasan Mahmud will become fit before the upcoming Twenty20 tournament.

Shafiul, who missed the just concluded three-team 50 over competition due to a back injury, came to BCB Academy Premises recently and bowled a few deliveries in the nets though it was not anywhere near his full run-up.

Mahmud sustained a knee injury during the second two-day intra-squad games which started at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Monday and he was ruled out from BCB President Cup.

“Shafiul suffered back injury and it occurred all of a sudden. Now he is feeling no pain and so we are expecting him to start bowling gradually,” said BCB head physician Debashish Chowdhury.

“Mahmud had a hamstring injury and now he had recovered a lot. Both of them are working with our physio and we are targeting to make them fit before the T20 tournament and working with that in mind,” he concluded.
