BSMRSTU admission seekers on hunger strike

GOPALGANJ: Four admission seekers who secured their position in waiting list of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) for 2019-20 academic year fell sick on the third day of their hunger strike, demanding admission for the vacant seats of the university.

When writing this report on Thursday, the admission seekers continued hunger strike in front of the university main gate.

Md Humaynul Haque, who secured 427 positions in unit H said, “We confirmed through assistant registrar Md Nazrul Islam that there are still many vacancies. But the university authority has stopped admission process without any prior notice. For this reason our education life has become uncertain”.

“We will continue our demonstration until our demand is met,” they added.

Dr AQM Mahbub, Vice Chancellor of BSMRSTU said, “We have called an emergency meeting of the core committee of the admission test on 1st November at 11:00 am. We will take a decision in this regard on that meeting.”

Mentionable that, without quota around 444 seats remains vacant at BSMRSTU in 2019–20 academic year.
