Member of Ansar al-Islam arrested

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an active member of Ansar al-Islam, a banned militant organisation, during a raid on Madhubagh area of Moghbazar in the capital on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-4 raided the area and arrested Md Mizanur Rahman Mizan, 30, said a press release of RAB-4 on Monday.

During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees confessed to his involvement with the militant group and provided vital information about others to RAB, it said.

“He confessed that he has been involved in attending secret meetings, giving donations and in new members’ recruitment process for the last three years.”

RAB seized books and written documents on militancy, laptops, CPUs, flash drives and mobile phones.

Legal action has been taken against Mizanur while process is on to arrest his accomplices.
